PRA's experience in respiratory/allergy clinical research encompasses multiple indications with significant expertise in the conduct of asthma, allergic rhinitis, and COPD. Together, these three indications account for almost 90% of PRA’s respiratory/allergy experience. In addition, we have significant knowledge and experience in many pulmonary function tests including centralized review and quality assurance of pulmonary function test data (over-reading).

PRA has a track record of participation in the development of most marketed respiratory/allergy drugs including:

  • Leukotriene modifiers
  • Inhaled and nasal corticosteroids
  • Short- and long-acting beta2 agonists
  • Anticholinergic agents
  • Phosphodiesterase inhibitors
  • Mast-cell stabilizers
  • Anti-IgE antibodies
  • Various combination products

During the past 5 years, PRA has conducted close to 100 studies and nearly 30 consulting projects in respiratory/allergy field. This includes providing pivotal clinical services that led to the 2006 regulatory approval of fluticasone propionate nasal spray, the first generic nasal allergy spray to be approved by the FDA.
