Clinical Pharmacology Center, The Netherlands

PRA has operated our Clinical Pharmacology Center in The Netherlands since the mid 1980's. It has an overall capacity of 140 beds divided over two separate 70-bed Clinical Research Units (CRU) located 10 miles apart in Groningen and Zuidlaren. An integral part of these CRUs is an in-house GLP-compliant clinical laboratory and a GMP-compliant pharmacy which provides sophisticated compounding. The CRU in Groningen is a hospital-based unit perfectly suited for First-in-Man studies. PRA works in close collaboration with the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) Intensive Care unit to accommodate compounds that are high-risk according to EMEA guidelines. Facilities dedicated to radiolabeled microdose (Phase 0) and ADME studies are also in place. Frequent collaborations exist with the UMCG, focusing on neuro-imaging (e.g. PET, (f)MRI, EEG and cognitive testing) and pain modeling. At this location, our focus is:

Clinical Pharmacology Center, Lenexa, KS, USA

PRA's Clinical Pharmacology Center in the US began operations in the mid 1980s. It consists of a new, state-of-the-art 80 bed CRU and a GCP-practicing pharmacy, with GMP pharmacy certification pending in the near future. The CRU is currently in the process of obtaining licensure for radioisotopes for ADME and microdosing (Phase 0) studies. Our primary focus is on First-in-Man through Proof of Concept programs.
