PRA's state of the art Bioanalytical and Clinical Chemistry Laboratories operate together with CLL to provide a full service Central Laboratory for both PRA based and externally managed multi-center clinical trials.

Laboratory for Clinical Chemistry

PRA has a fully equipped clinical chemistry laboratory which supports analyses for our clinical units located in The Netherlands. Apart from its safety and handling advantages, the presence of an in-house laboratory for clinical chemistry is ideal for investigating blood coagulation parameters or undertaking intensive blood processing protocols. We also provide a wide range of pharmacodynamic efficacy assessments.

Our clinical laboratory supports stand-alone analyses for third parties, such as pharmaceutical and biotech companies and other CROs. The clinical laboratory has over 20 years experience with an annual capacity of over several million samples.

Standard assays include:

Standard Hematology and Clinical Chemistry, Serology, Urinalysis,
Special proteins and hormone analysis and Drugs of abuse

Specialty assays include:

Platelet aggregation (routinely with up to seven agonists)
Coagulation factors (routine and special)
Electrophoresis
Whole blood/PBMC stimulation assays
Custom specialty assays

Clinical Trial Services (CLL)

Clinical Trial Services (CLL) has been active as a sample logistics service provider for over eight years. CLL provides complete solutions for sample logistics challenges of multi center clinical trials. The aim: to deliver samples derived from clinical trials to the laboratory in a structured and timely fashion. Laying down the foundation for the process of delivering 'clean' analytical results to the study sponsor.

The Clinical Chemistry Laboratory and the service provider have been collaborating successfully for more than six years as a competent Central Laboratory for multi-center clinical trials. Over these past years, routing samples of multi-center trials to the laboratory and reporting the results in an organized and timely manner has been the basis of this productive team-effort.

Central Laboratory - 'One Stop Shop'

For PRA's Central Laboratory, all activities are coordinated by Clinical Trial Services. The analyses carried out by the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory and eventually, custom designed, flagged result reporting can be carried out in a wide range of formats. The Central Laboratory:

Will act as provider for all necessary materials (sample collection kits, sample storage materials, sample shipping materials and all relevant types of instructions)
Will act as logistics coordinator for both incoming and outgoing shipments
Will receive the samples, reconcile the sample data with the protocol requirements and forward the samples to the laboratory. In the mean time occurring queries will be communicated with responsible persons to prevent delays in result reporting
Will act as the communications center, processing all study (sample) related questions and /or requests
Will send customized result reports
Will archive study data for a predefined period
